Based on comments in the last post, here’s what we’re rolling with:

  • Platinum Event Sponsor: $50,000
  • Gold Sponsor: $25,000
  • Silver Sponsor: $10,000
  • Bronze Sponsor: $5,000
  • PodCamp Boston Sponsor: $1,000 - $4,999
  • Friends of PodCamp Sponsor: under $1,000

I’m sure a few people suddenly just said, “Whoa! What’s an UnConference going to do with all that money?” Well, here’s what. First, the venue is paid for by VON - thank you to Jeff Pulver and the VON conference for their venue sponsorship of $50,000. The only reason PodCamp can be held at the Boston Convention and Expo Center is due to their generosity. However, their sponsorship covers the venue, food, and insurance, but we still need to bring in money for things like Internet access ($3,500 PER LINE), electrical outlets (yes, venues like the BCEC charge per outlet), plus amenities like shirts, etc. We’ll post up a full ledger here very soon. Any leftover money will be disbursed to the PodCamp Foundation for use in the Foundation’s work to build PodCamps around the world.

What do you get for these levels of sponsorship? Your thoughts are needed - here’s what I’ve come up with.

  • Platinum Event Sponsor: We’ll put your name and brand on just about everything we can, including attendees if they stand still long enough. Also includes everything in sponsor levels below, plus insert of any item in gift bag and lanyard/badge branding
  • Gold Sponsor: 10 x 10 space on the expo floor, public thanks on the blog and wiki, 11 x 17 sign on the sponsor wall, inclusion as a post-roll audio or video ad in each episode of the PodCamp podcast, logo inclusion on the event shirt. You may claim any one meal as a branded event - i.e. Breakfast provided by the PodCamp Foundation.
  • Silver Sponsor: 10 x 10 space on the expo floor, public thanks on the blog and wiki, 11 x 17 sign on the sponsor wall, inclusion of a single audio file or video file in the PodCamp podcast, logo inclusion on the event shirt. You may claim any break as a branded event - i.e. Coffee break provided by the PodCamp Foundation.
  • Bronze Sponsor: 5 x 5 space on the expo floor, public thanks on the blog and wiki, 8 1/2 x 14 sign on the sponsor wall, inclusion of a single audio file in the PodCamp podcast
  • PodCamp Boston Sponsor: 5 x 5 space on the expo floor, public thanks on the blog and wiki, 8 1/2 x 11 sign on the sponsor wall, mention in the sponsorcast
  • Friends of PodCamp Sponsor: public thanks on the blog, wiki, and a small sign on the sponsor wall the size of an index card

There are a lot of conferences out there which use various metals for sponsor levels:

  • Platinum
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Bronze

There are some conferences out there that use industry-related terms:

  • FIOS
  • DSL
  • DialUp

What names would be appropriate for PodCamp levels of sponsorship? If silly, would they be respected by a sponsor’s peers? If traditional, would they resonate with PodCamp attendees?
