Steve Garfield from SteveGarfield.com makes a return to the PodCamp sponsors as a Silver sponsor this year. Steve’s tag line for PodCamp is “I Subscribe to People!” and it’s worth thinking about carefully. Be sure to check out his space on the UnExpo floor.

A few people have wondered why two PodCamp Boston party events have costs associated with them. The short version is that venues for large crowds in Boston are fairly pricey; while we had some extremely helpful work done by Shava Nerad and Matthew Fishman on sourcing alternative venues and Kristen Crusius in musical event booking, in the end having a venue within walking distance of the Convention Center (rather than try to move a large group of people by road or mass transit, which in Boston can be a challenge) more than justified the Saturday night venue at the Boston Seaport Hotel, and a music booking at the Bulfinch Yacht Club on Friday night.
Even with the help of exceptionally generous sponsors like Jeff Pulver, there are still significant expenses to be managed, such as audio/visual setup for the venue, so there’s a nominal cost of $9.99 for the Saturday night event, and a nominal at-door cost of $8 on Friday night for the 9:45 PM concert with Matthew Ebel and Munk.
PodCamp participants are not required in any way to attend the evening events on either night (though we certainly encourage you to have fun!); no sessions will be presented, nor will any official PodCamp business be conducted. The evening events are just a great way for folks to get together and chat in a more informal atmosphere.
As always, all participants are encouraged to visit the Open Ledger and see exactly how the money is being handled.

Our thanks go to Jeff Pulver for his Gold Sponsorship of PodCamp Boston 2. With Jeff’s support, we are now able to offer the Saturday night party at a reduced ticket price of $9.99, down from $14.99. Jeff Pulver has been PodCamp Boston’s biggest support since the very beginning, and we thank him for his continued generosity. Be sure to stop by his space on the UnExpo floor.

Our thanks go to Melanie Stachowiak and MarketWire for their Bronze Sponsorship of PodCamp Boston 2. MarketWire has agreed to allow PodCamp Boston a series of national press releases to publicize the event, which we plan to take full advantage of. Be sure to stop by their space on the UnExpo floor.
